Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Block 10

Nursery rhyme quilt block 10Nursery quilt block ten”  Ride a cock-horse to Banbury-Cross.  Outline the jacket of the little boy’s suit in a yellowish green embroidery floss with dark green for the trousers.  The buttons and straw hat are done in a lemon yellow color with the feather embroidered in red in outline stitch and short simple stitch.  Red also is used for the boy’s socks and brown for the shoes.  The facial outline and hands are embroidered in beige or deep cream with light brown for the eyes and eyebrows.  Red is used for outlining the lips.

The cock-horse may be embroidered in a cinnamon brown with a dark brown for the halter and lines.  The whip may also be done in dark brown.

Outline the name of the block “Ride a cock-horse” in black.

The grass is embroidered in grass green with a simple stitch and the flower stems in outline with the leaves in loop stitch.  The flowers may be embroidered in loop stitch in gold; rose and lavender with a yellow French knot for the center of each flower.
