How To Upholster Junky Old Chairs

Sometime back I reupholstered a set of chairs I found at a local thrift store.  I really had fun doing it.  Since then, I’ve been looking for other chairs to make beautiful again.  Even though, Sam says we don’t have the room in the house and we don’t, it’s hard passing up a good find.

Plus, it gives me satisfaction making everything old new again.

This chair, was purchased with three others.  Each cost one cent.  A grand total after taxes of four cents!

Love it!

I was surprised to have gotten my hands on them because haunt I shop has an antiquer that visits who’s sole purpuse is to buy everything in sight before any of the rest of us can get into the doors.

On this particular day however, I beat him to the punch.

Anyway, the chairs are all wood, but incredibly lightweight.  I can pick one up with one hand.  The tops spring up. They’re  absolutely aborable because of their thin framing, dainty height and the lattice-type backwork.  A label attached to the underside of the chairs read: “Frankson”.  There are no other markings.  The tops aren’t original.

I’ve meant to do something with them.  That was over a month ago.

I’ve gotten re-inspired by a lovely little reupholstering post written by the Junkaholic.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Note to me:

Remember wadding and hessian.
