Block four of the nursery rhyme quilt.“Tom, the Piper’s Son”
Most of this quilt block is embroidered in outline stitch and for this reason may be very quickly made.
The goose is outlined in white embroidery floss with gold used for the bill and legs and brown for the eye. The claws may be done in beige or cream color embroidery floss.
Outline Tom’s trousers in dark blue floss with lighter shade of blue for the shirt and socks.
The facial outline and arm is outlined in deep cream or beige embroidery floss with red for the lips and brown for the eye. Lemon yellow may be used for Tom’s straw hat and bright green for the feather. His hair may be done in dark brown.
Orange red embroidery floss may be used for outlining the pig with cream floss for the feet.
Tom’s shoes and name of the block are outlined in black, and French knots are used for the buttons on the shoes.
