How to save money: use a mannequin as a dress form

mannequinI mannequins at clothing store’s going-out-of-business sell.  Extremely reasonable prices and well-suited for my purposes.

The male legs (not pictured) are on a removable base and are made of  hard fiber glass.  I plan on using them to display shorts, underwear and pants.  I also purchased a set of female legs.  Each was $15.00.

Also not pictured are two upper body halves (male).  Each $10.00.

The pictured female dress form is on rollers and is adjustable.  It’s made of fiberglass (easy to clean) and a sturdy foam of some sort in which I can easily stick straight pins in when I’m sewing up garments.  The mannequin came with the covering, which is removable.  It’s cotton so it’ll be easy to wash when needed.    Cost:  $25.00.

Pretty much these days, a SINGLE dress form averages at least $120.00.  My total purchase was $75.00.  No tax.

But, if you can’t find a sale with a ready supply of mannequins…
