Little Boy Blue nursery rhyme quilt block 2

Posted on | October 11, 2009 | No Comments

Little Boy Blue block no 2The second block of the nursery rhyme quilt portrays little boy blue.

For the collar and blouse of Boy Blue’s costume white is suggested to contrast with the bright blue of his suit. A dash of color may be added by using a bright red for the socks. Embroider the shoes in black or brown.

For the facial outlines and hands, use a deep cream or beige embroidery floss and red for the lips. The hair may be done in a golden brown with brown for the eyes and eyebrows.

Either use blue or assorted bright colors for the cross-stitch on the front of the blouse. The horn is outlined in gold in outline stitch to contrast with the pale yellow that’s suggested for the straw pile.

White is used to outline the lamb with green used both for the grass and the corn stalks. Either black or dark red can be used to embroider the cow with cream embroidery floss for the horns.  Next weeks block, Mistress Mary
