McCalls Printed Patterns

Vintage McCalls printed patternsI pulled this out of a pattern from 1941.  The ad introduces the McCall (not a typo) printed pattern.  Does anyone know when McCall changed it’s name from McCall to McCalls?  Guess I’ll have to pull up the present website to find hints on that one.

Okay, back to the point.  These printed patterns included

1.  Printed instructions-printed on each pattern piece give to-the-point assistance, cut sewing time in half.

2. Printed cutting line A -only McCall features the printed cutting line, a line-for-line reproduction of the original design.  No experience needed to make an accurate reproduction of the original design when you follow it.

3.  Numbered notches-so easy to match, a garment goes together one, two, three.  If you can count, you can match numbered notched and presto!  Your frock is all together.

Printed patterns must have been a blessing in disguise for women use to working with unmarked perforated patterns.
